Annette was born to Jim & Muriel Harris, on a military base in Texas. At the age of 7, her family moved to Irian Jaya (now Papua), Indonesia, where her dad served as a pilot with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF).
Annette and her brother lived at the boarding school, Sentani International School, a school exclusively for missionary kids, while her parents served interior. For high school, she attended Faith Academy, in Manila, Philippines, her Freshman year and then the family left the field and resided in the Pacific Northwest. After High School she studied music at a local community college. |
Jerry was born to Melvin & Nancy Isaac, in Indonesia. His dad was a pilot serving in Irian Jaya (now Papua), Indonesia, with Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF).
Jerry attended Sentani International School through the 8th grade, and then for high school attended Faith Academy, in Manila, Philippines. He graduated and moved to California where he attended Biola University and graduated with a bachelors degree in computers and a minor in business. He later earned a Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of La Verne, in La Verne, CA. |
Our Story
In 2001, we both attended a reunion in Kentucky that was open to any of the mission community that had lived and worked on the island of Irian Jaya, Indonesia. Jerry flew in from California where he had been living since graduating Biola University, and I (Annette) flew in from Washington State. We actually met up on the airplane, after departing the Phoenix Airport. A friendship started that weekend, and eventually developed into an engagement and wedding in 2002. I moved to California where Jerry was working for Southern California Edison (local utility), and fell in love with his two children from a previous marriage.
Chrystel graduated (2014) University California, Riverside, with a degree in Economics, and is now married and living in Kansas. Our son Josh was a sophomore at Northern Arizona University, when the Lord took him home suddenly, March 27, 2015. He was 20 years old, and will forever be in our hearts. |
God has called us to serve Him. While serving at Crosslight Family Ministries in Southern California, I ministered in music by singing on the worship team and playing the piano; Jerry made me sound good by working the sound board and helping with the visual media. Jerry was also voted in as a board member and served as Secretary of the Board at Crosslight during his 6-year term. Service is a major part of who we are. We have been called to serve the Church body.
Having grown up overseas, we both have a heart for helping missionaries and missions work. When Jerry's 5-year project at the local utility ended, God opened the door for us to help the Church body in Manila, Philippines. Jerry was able to use his technical skills as the Director of IT at Faith Academy for four years. He was then asked to help set up the HS Pre-engineering program for high school and coach Cross Country and Track & Field. He also started a men's group one evening a week helping faculty and staff men stay connected.
At Faith Academy, I worked to keep Alumni connected and help new staff adjust to living in a new country as part of Member Care. We are not teachers, but Support Staff, supporting the staff of our school. We are proud to be able to say, that because of our support roles, we were part of the team that provides quality education to children of Missionaries.
Now God has brought us back to the Pacific Northwest to provide "Missional Housing for OFWs" or Overseas Filipino Workers. We don't know what that means yet, but we are stepping out in faith, knowing that God has a plan and He will show us what we need to do at each step along the way.
