Faith Academy Turns 60 Years Old
Easter Sunday
Holy week here in the Philippines is a huge deal. Easter Sunday we invited 4 single teachers to join us for the Sunrise service and then breakfast and games afterwards. A couple of them stayed all day, just to be around "family".
Aunt Christine & Cousin Charlene Came to Visit!
Jerry's cousin brought a mission team to the Philippines from her church in North Idaho. Along for the plane ride, Aunt Christine decided to come and stay with us while the team went to southern islands. After the mission trip, Charlene stayed with us one night and then we took both of them to the airport the next day. Our first visitors from the States! We sooooo enjoyed sharing our life with Aunt Christine and Charlene.
Day trip to Pagsanhan Falls
Jerry's aunt came to visit. While Faith Academy is a great place to work, we wanted her to get out of the city and enjoy the outdoors at least one day while she was here. So we went to Pagsanhan Falls for the first time. We drove 3 hours, traveled an hour in a tiny canoe and traversed 14 white-water rapids (small ones), and then took a bamboo raft to the falls. Stopped for lunch on the way back, visited roadside fruit stands and then a grocery store when we got back into town. All in all....an 11 hour road trip. It was wonderfully relaxing and a fun time was had by all!
Life around Town
Spring Break
- Puerto Galera beach on the island of Mindoro
Jerry was asked by the director of Threads of Hope on Mindoro, to come help them with setting up internet for their high school. Faith Academy staff were off for the first two days of spring break, so Jerry agreed to go. The school paid for half of our trip, and they made the reservation for us at a local resort. Because of all the work that was done in preparation for our arrival, in just about 14 hours of work Jerry was able to set the school up with internet for students and staff. Annette was allowed to come along and stay at the resort while Jerry worked...enjoying the sun and the beach.
Track & Field meet at Brent International School
A 2 hour bus ride to Brent International School to compete against 13 different schools. The day started off rainy and continue into the afternoon. We left the school at 6am and got back home at 7 that night. It was a long day, but a good one! Records were set by our school, and Jerry's middle school boys took Gold in the long-distance relay.

A Wedding Reception
Two of our Elementary teachers flew back to Washington State over Christmas vacation and got married, surrounded by family and friends. Once back in the Philippines, they repeated their vows and held a reception for all of us at Faith that could not attend their wedding. 300 of us showed up on a Saturday morning to welcome back Mr & Mrs Mendoza!

Jerry's Birthday Celebration
Jerry's Birthday! It's rough when your birthday falls the first few days of school. But we had an impromptu birthday celebration and I drove out on my lunch hour and picked up a Dairy Queen cake for him as a surprise. Thankfully I didn't get stuck in traffic, as it could have been a 45 minute drive back with a melting cake!

Jerry's Office this Summer
The IT office had so much work, they didn't have time to clean up all summer. So of course pictures were necessary, so I could show you the work accomplished! Yes, those were donuts brought in. Actually a treat for Jerry's birthday.
